ABOUT

Dr. Braunlich

    Dr. Braunlich was born and raised in Wheeling, West Virginia. He was a high school and college athlete and is a veteran of the US Army. Dr. Braunlich served his country as an orthopedic surgeon treating soldiers in Iraq and Germany. 

    In addition to his passion for orthopedics, Dr. Braunlich enjoys running, fitness and obstacle course races. He is active in his church and with his family, including his wife and three children.

    Dr. Braunlich's vast experience and skills will aid you with your orthopedic needs.

  • Bachelor of Science in Biology- Virginia Military Institute   

Dr. Braunlich obtained his bachelors degree from Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Virginia, in 1987. He balanced his academic studies while playing football on the varsity team all four years. Along with being a student athlete, his enrollment in VMI required his time for military duties that led him to a career in the US Army.

  • Graduate Work in Cell and Molecular Biology- West Virginia University

Upon graduating from VMI, Dr. Braunlich continued his studies at WVU in Morgantown, West Virginia. His graduate and research experience focused on molecular cell biology.

  • Doctor of Medicine- Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine

Dr. Braunlich attended medical school at the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. He attended school in 1990 and graduated with his M.D. degree in 1994.

  • Orthopedic Surgery Residency- William Beaumont Army Medical Center/Texas Tech University

Following medical school, Dr. Braunlich served his first tour of duty in the Bosnian War where he served as a flight surgeon. After his tour, Dr. Braunlich attended his orthopedic residency in El Paso, Texas, from 1999 to 2003 at Texas Tech Level 1 Trauma Center.
